Rent a Scooter in Lisbon: 110, 350 or 750cc, Prices and Licence
What it costs to rent a scooter in Lisbon in October 2026: daily prices for seven models, from Honda Vision to X-ADV 750, deposit, licence and passenger.

Most people who want to rent a scooter in Lisbon arrive with a fixed idea: a cheap automatic 125 to get between the hotel and the Baixa. Often that is exactly the right call. But some days need something else, because the plan includes the 25 de Abril Bridge in a crosswind, a passenger with a bag, or 300 km down the coast to the Alentejo. In this article we compare the seven scooters in our fleet, from the 109cc Honda Vision to the 749cc X-ADV, with the price, deposit and licence each one requires.
In short:
- Daily prices in October 2026: from €35.68 (Honda Vision NSC110) to €107.19 (Honda X-ADV 750 DCT), 23% VAT included.
- Deposit held on your card: €400 to €1,000 depending on the model, released within 5 working days.
- Included per day: 400 km, third-party liability insurance, roadside assistance, a rider's helmet and a lock.
- Licence: A1, or B if you are 25 or over, for the 110 and 125 models; A2 or A for the 330 and 350; A for the X-ADV.
- Book with 30% of the total; extra kilometres at €0.35; pick-up in Sobreda, every day, 09:00 to 19:00.
Three scooter sizes for three kinds of day
Our scooters fall into three quite different groups. What changes is the weight, the licence you need and the kind of road each one is happy on. The price follows, but it is not the main thing to weigh up when you choose.
110 and 125cc: city, beach and nearby towns
The Honda Vision NSC110 is the simplest bike in the fleet. It has 109cc and 6.4 kW, weighs 100 kg ready to ride, and the seat sits 785 mm off the ground. The 4.9-litre tank is good for roughly 260 km. It suits anyone who wants to ride from their accommodation to Cais do Sodré, climb up to Graça and come back without thinking about gears or a clutch.
One step up are the Honda PCX125, the PCX125 DX and the Yamaha NMAX 125 Tech MAX. All of them produce around 9 kW (about 12 hp), weigh 132 to 134 kg and cover 300 to 320 km on a tank. The PCX has the lowest seat in the group, at 763 mm, which helps shorter riders get both feet down at a traffic light on a hill. The DX is the same PCX with a higher trim level; the NMAX Tech MAX adds a 4.2-inch TFT screen and the Tech MAX equipment pack, making it the best-equipped 125 we have.
On a 125 you can cover all of Lisbon and reach Cascais, Sintra or Costa da Caparica with no effort. The limits show on long trips two-up with luggage, or on fast stretches with strong wind.
330 and 350cc: bridge, expressways and coast without strain
The BMW C 400 X (350cc, 35 hp) and the Honda ADV 350 (330cc, 28.8 hp) are the middle ground. They weigh 204 kg and 186 kg respectively, so they call for more care when manoeuvring at low speed. In return, they hold motorway speeds comfortably and are far more stable with a passenger on board.
The ADV 350 has an adventure look and more clearance on rough ground, which comes in handy on the potholed tracks down to some beaches. The C 400 X is more of a road machine: ABS, ASC stability control and a USB port for your phone. Neither can be ridden on a B licence.
X-ADV 750 DCT: the maxi-scooter for riders who already hold an A licence
The Honda X-ADV 750 is a different story. It has 749cc, 55 hp, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and weighs 238 kg. The seat is 820 mm high, which is tall for a scooter. There is no clutch to manage in traffic, but there is weight, and you feel it in a narrow street in Alfama or when parking on a slope.
It makes sense for people who already ride motorbikes and want scooter comfort on a trip of several days: storage, an upright riding position, a tall windscreen included in the rental and around 300 km of range from a 13.1-litre tank.
October 2026 prices, model by model
These are the daily rates currently shown on each model's page, VAT included. The minimum rental is one day and the daily rate does not drop for longer rentals: a week costs seven times the listed price, just as with any 125cc motorbike rental in Lisbon.
| Model | Engine | Weight | Price per day | Deposit | Licence |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honda Vision NSC110 | 109cc | 100 kg | €35.68 | €400 | A1 or B (25+) |
| Honda PCX125 | 125cc | 134 kg | €45.77 | €600 | A1 or B (25+) |
| Honda PCX125 DX | 125cc | 134 kg | €55.80 | €600 | A1 or B (25+) |
| Yamaha NMAX 125 Tech MAX | 125cc | 132 kg | €62.57 | €600 | A1 or B (25+) |
| BMW C 400 X | 350cc | 204 kg | €72.45 | €900 | A2 or A |
| Honda ADV 350 | 330cc | 186 kg | €79.84 | €800 | A2 or A |
| Honda X-ADV 750 DCT | 749cc | 238 kg | €107.19 | €1,000 | A |
Moving up from a PCX125 to a C 400 X costs an extra €26.68 a day. If that day includes two bridge crossings and a passenger, the difference pays for itself in peace of mind. If the plan is city only, it is money spent on weight that will get in your way.
What a scooter rental actually costs
The daily rate is only part of the bill. Add up the deposit, the mileage and the extras before you book, so there are no surprises at the counter.
A weekend on a PCX125
Two days of 125cc scooter rental on a Honda PCX125 come to €91.54. You pay 30% when booking, which is €27.46, and the remaining €64.08 at pick-up. At the same time a €600 deposit is held on your card; it is not charged and becomes available again within 5 working days of the return. The two days give you 800 km, more than enough for Lisbon, Sintra and the Cascais coast.
Three days on the X-ADV along the coast
Three days on the X-ADV 750 DCT add up to €321.57. The booking costs €96.47 and you pay €225.10 on pick-up day. The deposit rises to €1,000, so check your card limit before you leave home. With 400 km included per rental day, you can ride down the Alentejo coast to Vila Nova de Milfontes and come back through Évora without paying for extra kilometres.
When 400 km a day is not enough
The limit is 400 km per rental day. Rent for a single day and ride a 520 km loop, and you pay for 120 extra km: €42. That rarely happens on a 125, whose range is around 300 km per tank, but on an ADV 350 or an X-ADV it is easy to go past the mark without noticing.
Which licence you need for each scooter
The rule that raises the most questions is the one about the B licence. According to IMT (Portugal's road transport authority), anyone with a valid car licence may ride motorcycles of up to 125cc and 11 kW, provided they are 25 or older or hold a moped licence. The rule comes from Lei n.º 78/2009, which amended article 123 of the Código da Estrada (Portuguese Highway Code). The same law allows riders under 25 without a moped licence to earn that right by passing a practical test.
Our four scooters of up to 125cc are below the power limit: the Vision has 6.4 kW, the NMAX 9 kW and the PCX models 9.2 kW. For these models we ask for an A1 licence, or a B licence with the rider aged at least 25.
For the bigger scooters, a B licence will not do. IMT states that category A2 can be obtained from age 18 and category A at 24, or at 20 for those who have held A2 for two years. The C 400 X and the ADV 350 require A2 or A; the X-ADV requires A.
The licence is only half the story. Our terms and conditions state that a rental may be refused if the team sees a lack of experience to ride the chosen model safely. If you have never ridden a 200 kg scooter, it is better to start on a 125 and swap the next day once you feel comfortable.
Passenger, helmets and luggage
Article 82 of the Código da Estrada requires both rider and passenger on a motorcycle to wear an officially approved helmet, properly fitted and fastened. The fine for not wearing one ranges from €120 to €600. Article 91 bans carrying passengers under 7 on motorcycles and mopeds, so a scooter is no solution for a family with young children.
The rental includes a basic helmet for the rider. The passenger's helmet is chosen among the booking extras, up to a maximum of two helmets per booking. The terms and conditions also list a full-face helmet at €5 a day, gloves at €2 a day, a protective jacket at €5 a day and a phone mount at €3 a day. If you want to cross into Spain, the insurance extension costs €58 for every 10 days.

As for luggage: under the seat of a 125 you can fit a helmet or a small backpack, not a cabin bag. On a multi-day trip for two, the extra space and stability of the 350s and the X-ADV matter more than the price difference. Article 92 of the Code bans carrying objects that interfere with riding, and a bag wedged between your feet counts.
Riding a scooter in Lisbon: what changes compared with a car
The hills are the first shock. On the climbs in Graça or Estrela an automatic scooter pulls away with no fuss, but wet cobblestones are slippery, especially along the tram lines. Cross the rails as close to a right angle as you can, and brake before you reach the stone, not on it.
Some neighbourhoods have restricted access. EMEL (Lisbon's parking and mobility company) controls traffic in Bairro Alto, Alfama, Santa Catarina and Bica, and the Castelo area, with entry points monitored 24 hours a day. Before riding into one of these zones, read the signs at the entrance; do not assume a scooter can go where a car cannot.
Outside the city, the rule that matters is the one about motorways. Article 72 of the Código da Estrada bans mopeds and motorcycles of up to 50cc from them. All our scooters are above that figure, the smallest has 109cc, so they can use signposted motorways. Even so, on a 125 a comfortable cruising speed is lower than that of the surrounding traffic, and if you plan a lot of motorway riding you are better off on a 350.

Whenever you stop, use the lock that comes with the rental, even for a ten-minute coffee. Leave the scooter in a proper motorbike bay, never on the pavement, and on its centre stand on firm ground: asphalt softens on August afternoons and a side stand can sink in.
Pick-up in Sobreda, at the airport or at your hotel
The shop is at Estrada Nacional N10-1, no. 189, in Sobreda, on the south bank of the Tagus, and it is open every day from 09:00 to 19:00. If you are flying in or staying in Lisbon, you can request delivery to the airport or to your address as a paid service when you book.
At pick-up, bring your ID, your driving licence and the card for the deposit. We inspect the scooter with you and photograph any existing scratches, so that only new damage counts at the return. In summer and on long holiday weekends, book a few days ahead and pick your dates right at the start: the real availability of each model only shows up after that.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rent a scooter in Lisbon with just a B licence?
Yes, on scooters of up to 125cc (Vision, PCX125, PCX125 DX and NMAX 125), as long as you are 25 or older. For the C 400 X and the ADV 350 you need A2 or A, and for the X-ADV 750 an A licence.
How much does it cost to rent a scooter for a day?
In October 2026, between €35.68 (Honda Vision NSC110) and €107.19 (Honda X-ADV 750 DCT), including VAT, third-party liability insurance, roadside assistance and 400 km.
Is the deposit charged?
No. It is held on your card at pick-up, between €400 and €1,000 depending on the model, and becomes available again within 5 working days of the return, provided there is no damage and nothing outstanding.
Can I take my 6-year-old on the scooter?
No. Article 91 of the Código da Estrada bans carrying passengers under 7 on motorcycles and mopeds.
Can I ride the rental scooter to Spain?
Yes, as long as you add the Spanish extension to your contract, charged at €58 for each ten-day period. Arrange it before you set off for Badajoz, Huelva or Seville; that document is what extends the policy across the border.
